![]() ![]() Thanks Tim! Will keep this updated after the dry start is over and be finally injecting Co2. ![]() Hoping to find out soon enough, was just wondering if there’s something else that I haven’t thought of yet. Some will be more turbulent and mix way more air with the water thus losing more Co2 where a full siphon configuration with minimal water drop from baffle to baffle or overflow box will be way more efficient in this regard. Tim, I also believe different sump designs and overflow configurations will yield different results as far as CO2 loss goes and sumps can’t be generalized. If not, build a reactor and try it that way. I guess I’ll try an in-line atomizer on the longest return line and see what that gives me. I just didn’t want to see the fizz in the tank. A trickle in the emergency line will still have more than 90 of the inner wall dry most of. If you cut light to an area algae will not grow. Another option is two seperate herbies, or one herbie one closed loop. 'Stuff will grow anywhere water flows' -meaning that by running water down the emergency will lead to a clog from Algae or Sponges, etc. You need to tie the two lines together using a larger pipe diameter in order to balance the two overflows. Technically this is more a herbie than bean. Really don’t mind refilling the cylinder a little earlier than needed but get the “other” benefits. Only tie two together, the durso pipe and/or emergency isnt tied into the siphon. I just dont like the overflow in the middle. For the time being it will be against a wall. If possible I recommend a BeanAnimal configuration. BeanAnimal looked at what Herbie had done and wasn’t sold it fixed the concern so added a third, always dry drain. Herbie pulled the return out of his reef ready overflow to give an emergency backup. Wife wants a nice clean look so internal it is. Durso was first and used to quiet commercial reef ready tanks. Decided against the external overflow because of exposed piping etc. I believe gas exchange should be way better with this setup. Going to have the bottom drilled for the internal overflow. Now I’ve got crystal clear surface and arguably less tank clutter but will burn more CO2 Surface skimmers were an eye sore too even though they worked. There’s no perfect scenario, I used to run a canister filter and lily pipes and surface scum was always a problem.
